Rich Lewis was born on October 2, 1934, in a small town in the mountains of east Tennessee. When Rich Lewis was just 8 years old, his parents were killed when a tornado destroyed their home. Nevertheless, Rich’s mother never gave up on her son and she instilled within him an unwavering determination to survive and make something of himself. Mountain Men Morgan and Margaret Aspiring to be as successful as his father had been, Lewis began working odd jobs at 16 so that he could save money for school and eventually moved to Ruby Valle where he became well-known for his survival skills.

In 1953, Lewis and a friend were attacked by a bear while they were out hunting. However, the animal let them go after the friend shot it with his rifle. The following year, Lewis was arrested for stealing food from Mount Carmel Church in Ruby Valle. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison but was released after serving only 3 years because he had successfully completed a prison-based course of study. After being released, Lewis became an avid hunter and fisherman. This led to him becoming friends with several people who later became famous mountain men Morgan and Margaret like Jim Bridger and Jim Beckwourth. Back then, Rich’s nickname was “Mountain Man” because he hunted and was trapped in the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains.

Rich later married Elizabeth Morgan on October 4, 1964, and together they had four children: Margaret (born on July 19, 1965), Thomas (born on August 25, 1966), Patrick (born on November 24, 1967), and Sarah (born on March 1, 1969). Rich and Elizabeth moved to the small town of Mountain View in the mountains of Idaho with their four children. They owned a restaurant there and had a very successful business.

On February 23, 2000, Morgan was killed when she fell off a ladder while working on the roof. She was buried on February 27, 2000, in Mountain View Cemetery.

Martin was fired from Mountain Men Morgan and Margaret for not showing up for work. He had been drinking and was very depressed. He blamed it on his wife, with whom he had been having an affair. The producers of Mountain Men Morgan and Margaret were very upset that Marty had let the showdown. They were also very concerned about his health. After the firing, Marty tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head with a hunting rifle while at home in Vail, Colorado. Thankfully, he survived this gunshot wound and was treated at a hospital in Denver where he recovered fully. The police also found an empty bottle of painkillers at the scene of Marty’s shooting. Marty later went to rehab and completed his treatment successfully afterward without any additional problems arising from it.

Marty is now living in Florida with his new wife and has started working on a new television series called “The Outsiders”. This new show will star George Clooney and will be broadcast on NBC in 2005 Mountain Men Morgan and Margaret.
