A Brief Bio

Pravin breathed his first on the 8th of October 1971. He was born to his parents in Mumbai, India. Therefore, his date of first suggests that he is around 51 years old as of 2023. His father’s name is Vijay Tambe and his mother’s name is Jyoti Tambe. However, his educational background is unknown to us. Pravin Tambe

From his very childhood days, he became passionate about cricket. In fact, he started as a fast bowler. However, Ajay Kadam, the then captain of Orient Shipping, noticed that his bowling has a strange spinning quality in it. On his advice, Tambe started to bowl Leg Spinners and the effect was immediate. His game improved significantly.

However, he had to face constant pressure from his family for finding a financially lucrative job. His passion for cricket was an irrational dream for his family. They further believed that cricket would not give him financial stability in his life. Therefore, he joined a day job. However, alongside his job, he continued to pursue his dream of cricket. It is his determination and passion for cricket that have made him a part of the history of Indian cricket.

Cricket Career

In 1995 Tambe started his journey in club cricket. However, he failed to get a significant role in these clubs of Mumbai. But that did not make him giveup. He joined the Parsee Cyclists club placed in Division D and after some time, made his way to Division B. Finally, he earned a spot in the Shivaji Park Gymkhana, in the top tier of the league. In 2000 and 2002, he was named as a part of the probable team for Mumbai to play in the Ranji Trophy. But finally, he did not succeed to enter the final team Pravin Tambe .

The break of his career finally came in the year 2008, when he was already around 41 years old. He was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for the IPL. He got selected even without playing a single game in First Class Cricket. He became a first rated wicket-taker for the team. His success in the IPL earned him a place in Mumbai Indians in the 2013 edition of the IPL. After that, he joined the Gujarat Lions and then again returned to Mumbai. In 2018, though he announced his retirement, he came out of it in 2020 to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the BCCI did not let him play as he played in the Abu Dhabi T20 League against the permission from the board.
