When you have time to yourself, you give your brain a break and reconnect with yourself. You can also find innovative solutions to problems or just relax.

Identify the Things That Cause You Stress

You cannot eliminate stress if you don’t know what is causing it. Therefore, pay attention to your feelings and physical reactions to the things that happen during the day. If your breathing gets short and your heart rate races when the phone rings, figure out why. When you learn what causes you anxiety, determine if you can delegate those things.

Focus on Your Attitude

You choose your attitude every day, and every minute of the day. Yes, things will make you mad, sad or happy, but you can choose your actions and how long you stay that way.

Changing your attitude can change everything about your life. Focus on the positive things, celebrate the wins and look objectively at your losses. Figure out what you can do better next time, but don’t keep replaying negative things over and over.

Set House Rules

Many parents experience stress because they don’t have designated house rules. For example, they allow eating and drinking all over the house and then get upset when something spills. Learn what is important to you. Do you want a clean, orderly house? How do you want to be spoken to, and how do you want your children to speak to each other?

Setting house rules helps everyone in the home understand their responsibilities and expectations. Rules make your home run smoother, so don’t avoid them.

Practice Relaxation Techniques
